Among the ‘Best’ for a Decade

Each June,U.S. News and World Report unveils its list of Best Children’s Hospitals, ranking multiple pediatric specialties based on excellence in clinical services, outcomes, patient experience and reputation. The Jane and John Justin Neurosciences Center at Cook Children’s is proud to be recognized for the 10^th consecutive year among the best pediatric Neurology and Neurosurgery programs. Ranked #30 for 2020-2021, our center continues to grow with a focus on high-quality care and exceptional patient experience.

The Neurosciences faculty includes 15 pediatric neurologists, four neurosurgeons, three neuropsychologists and a physiatrist, with plans to add an additional three neurologists in the coming year. The center features active epilepsy and movement disorder programs, a pediatric inpatient neurorehabilitation program, and multiple subspecialty programs in stroke, headache, demyelinating disorders, among others. Already a leader in clinical research, Cook Children’s expanded research efforts or neurosciences in 2019 through a multi-million dollar endowment. Christos Papadelis, Ph.D., joined the staff the same year to lead the research program going forward.

"We are proud of the consistent level of excellence maintained by the Neurosciences program over the last 10 years,” said M. Scott Perry, M.D., Neurology medical director. “We’ve seen a significant amount of growth over that time, but we still have much to do if we want to uphold our vision to provide easily accessible, well-coordinated, comprehensive evaluation and treatment to all children with diseases of the nervous system. We have an outstanding staff dedicated to this vision and I can’t wait to see where they take us in the coming years."
